About the Artwork

A Lovely Abstract With Gold Detailing Of A Black Leopard Statuette.
Bronze Big Wild Cat Sculpture Figurine Ornament for Indoors Inside Interior display in the House or Home on the Desktop or Table top.By the Charismatic American Sculptor Timoyhy Nimmo who writes…..
” Shamanic Vision sees a leopard idol through the mind`s eye of the shaman or true believer. They see not just the idol or made object; but imbue it with the spirit of the god it pays homage to. So the leopard is somewhat stiff in it`s hind quarters, but the head begins to move, the paw raises up as to strike, and the ferocity of the leopard god`s spirit begins to animate the physical effigy.

The concept of Shamanic Vision came from several carved Scythian big cats (presumed leopards, as the leopard is used often in other Scythian art) found in barrows in Siberia. (Several of these may be seen on my website in the “Inspirations” collection.) The carvings were unique, but very similar in pose and character. They all show a snarling leopard in repose. These were obviously important to them as several very similar carving have been found interred with their dead, though their actual meaning has been lost to the ages and can only be speculated on. Timothy became captivated by them- looking at them for hours wondering, “What did they mean? What did they see in these? How did they come to interpret the natural animal this way?” In trying to understand this, he overlay-ed the actual animal onto the carved artifact; and thus Shamanic Vision was conceived.

The idea of an ancient idol made as a holy object of worship also gave rise to the idea of playing with alternate materials. As with any homage to a god- nothing but the best would do. Precious materials were also themselves though to have magical properties in and of themselves. Hence the gold leaf on the inlaid parts. The eyes, the windows to the soul of the god, are fossil mammoth ivory and amber.

Artist Comment

Please note that the eye whites are fossil mammoth ivory. This is ivory which has been taken from extinct mammoth and mastodons. While the remains of the animal are categorized as a fossil, the tusks have not been mineralized as in dinosaur fossils. They remain non ossified ivory. This is legal in the USA; but international laws on fossil ivory are unknown. By the way, I will be more than happy to provide copies of the receipts of the materials as proof.

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
