About the Artwork

Lovely Large Big Blackbuck East Indian Antelope With Spiraling Horns Sculpture. Mounted Is On A Jerusalem Gold Travertine And Would Create A Focal Point Indoors Or Outdoors Statue.Timothy became fascinated with the compositional possibilities with the animal. Repeating small spirals within larger spirals of the horn are echoed by the slight spiral of the head and neck. The other challenge with this animal which interested him was the “coluor” pattern. Usually ignoring such patterns on an animal and focusing on the form; this was a necessary exception. With some creatures the pattern is such a defining characteristic it can not be ignored. Paying some homage to its coloration with the patina while remaining focused on form was an interesting challege. To not do so would be like ignoring the tiger`s stripes, the panda bear`s distinctive markings, or a leopard`s spots. The face patches and chest patch are slightly incised as well as using a whitened patina in those areas. Both the white and black are mostly translucent so the eye will concentrate on the form and maintain visual integrity of the sculpted lines and forms.

Artist Comment

The base on this casting is Jerusalem Gold travertine; but is also available in many other types of travertine. Timothy welcomes your inquiries on stone options best suited to your tastes and needs. Modern digital scanning and enlargement techniques are a valuable tool for artist and collector alike. Through the marvels of these technologies I can offer mirror images of sculptures. Imagine 2 of these handsome creatures, one facing left, one facing right; gracing the entry way to your estate, garden, or summer villa. There are maquettes of this still available. The larger busts were enlarged 2.5 x from these studies. Please check my website for information and photos of these.

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
