About the Artwork

After “The Last Supper” sculpture. 40cm tall, Post Modern Representation of the Last Supper in Stainless Steel and Cast Aluminium. A Sculpture for/of today, for Sale by the (Forever Surprising us) Original Sculptor Sam Umaria. Over the Centuries The Last Supper has fascinated many of the Great Artists. In this work the differing personalities and diverse background of the main characters in this drama are represented by the different colors of the plates and their relative position to Christ (the white plate), Judas (the black plate) and Peter the rock at the very bottom (the Papal purple plate). The spilt wine signifies the spilling of Christ blood and the Chalice reflects the image of the viewer, making them unwilling accomplices in the tragedy. “Forgive them for they know not what they do.” The nature of the hierarchical system of the church, together with the inherent instability of its multitude of offshoots is also portrayed in the unevenly balanced plates. Never before has the Last Supper been portrayed with such simplicity but yet with devastating effect. There are no halos or robed figures and yet even to the uninitiated there is no ambiguity in what this sculpture represents.

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
