About the Artwork

Contemporary Abstract Carved White Marble sculpture, by Sandra Borges, the vivacious Portuguese Sculptress who adds a different spin on stone carving.
The wall sculpture is composed by three pieces of polished white Portuguese marble installed in a stained wood base. Hanging hardware is included. Shipping included.

Artist Comment

This piece is a result of a challenge made to the artist: make a 7 meters installation related to water, wall mounted, for the exhibition "Sítios da Água - Places of Water", a 40 artists collective exhibition in the Levada cultural center, Tomar ( 2022 ). The artist chose to take a more formal approach to the subject, rather than a more symbolic ou metaphorical, studying the patterns made by water - the small waves made by a drop falling, ripples made by wind in a pool surface, water running down a drain. The choice of white marble was made so that there is a incongruity between the subject water and the medium stone. One is fluid and malleable and the other is static and permanent, so that it's almost presenting the textures as fossilised in stone.

  • The ArtParkS Guarantee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the artists themselves, stating the material they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors, they have a guarantee of 10 years, subject to the effects of weathering, which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them regular cleaning and maintenance.

For instance, bronze, and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze, will acquire a green patina, usually rather sought after. All can attract moss, lichen, and a greenish pollen, especially under trees, which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing-up liquid.

Iron and steel will oxidise (rust), and this falls outside our guarantee.

Organic material like wood and bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited. You should discuss any guarantee directly with the artist, as this too falls outside our guarantee.

  • How Does ArtParkS Ensure Your Protection?

From the moment you place an order and pay ArtParkS, you are protected because half of the payment is immediately used to pay the artist’s deposit, while the other half is retained until the sculpture is delivered safely.

Insurance in transit should be arranged with the artist prior to ordering.

  • Why Choose ArtParkS for Your Purchase?

When you choose a work of art from ArtParkS, you can be confident that it has been selected by ArtParkS’s curators and will be dispatched directly from the artist’s studio or foundry only after passing their quality control process.
