Medium
The crocodile, a creature that has long fascinated me with its primal power and stealthy grace. The theme revolves around the juxtaposition of the wild, untamed forces of nature and the sleek, polished world of modernity. The crocodile, a symbol of raw survival and ancient wisdom, is reimagined here in a medium that represents the cutting – edge of modern materials.
My inspiration for “the Crocodile” stemmed from countless encounters with nature and a deep – seated desire to bridge the gap between the natural and the man – made. I was captivated by the crocodile’s ability to lie in wait, a silent observer in its habitat, embodying a sense of patience and power. Translating this essence into a stainless – steel sculpture was a challenge I eagerly embraced.
The creative process began with extensive research and observation of crocodiles in their natural environment. I studied their every movement, the texture of their skin, and the way they interacted with their surroundings. Then, I embarked on a series of sketches to capture the essence of their form. Working closely with skilled metalworkers, we used advanced techniques to shape the stainless steel into the intricate, hollowed – out structure you see today. The mirror – finish not only adds a touch of elegance but also reflects the ever – changing world around it, creating a dynamic interplay between the sculpture and its environment.
An interesting fact about this artwork is that the hollowed – out design is not just an aesthetic choice but also a nod to the transparency and vulnerability that exist within the seemingly impenetrable exterior of the crocodile. It invites viewers to look beyond the surface and consider the deeper layers of meaning. In the world of stainless – steel modern sculptures and animal metal sculptures, “the Crocodile” stands as a unique expression of my artistic vision, a piece that hopes to inspire contemplation and wonder about our relationship with nature.

- The ArtParkS Guarantee
All the sculptures on the website are described by the artists themselves, stating the material they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors, they have a guarantee of 10 years, subject to the effects of weathering, which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them regular cleaning and maintenance.
For instance, bronze, and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze, will acquire a green patina, usually rather sought after. All can attract moss, lichen, and a greenish pollen, especially under trees, which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing-up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise (rust), and this falls outside our guarantee.
Organic material like wood and bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited. You should discuss any guarantee directly with the artist, as this too falls outside our guarantee.
