About the Artwork

ANANKE (or Anance) Was The Protogenos (Primeval Goddess) Of Inevitability, Compulsion And Necessity. She emerged self-formed at the very beginning of time—an incorporeal, serpentine being whose outstretched arms encompassed the breadth of the universe. From the time she first appeared Ananke was entwined in the serpentine coils of her mate, the time – god Khronos – Chronos (Chronos protogenos – not the titan Cronus). Together they surrounded the primal egg of solid matter in their constricting coils and split into its constituent parts (earth, heaven and sea) and so brought about the creation of the universe. She was seen as the most powerful dictator of all fate and circumstance which meant that mortals, as well as the Gods, respected her and paid homage. Considered as the mother of the Fates, she is the only one to have control over their decisions (except, according to some sources, also Zeus). Ananke and Khronos (Chronos) remained entwined as the cosmic-circling forces of fate and time—driving the rotation of the heavens and the never-ending passage of time. They were far beyond the reach of the younger gods whose fates they were sometimes said to control. In November 2015 we could have seen the work, ”Ananke’’ in the European Museum of Contemporary Art – Museu Europeu d’Art Modern (MEAM) – Europeu in Barcelona The value of this sculpture has been noticed by the Museum’s director Jose Manuel Infiesta who is an architect and the art collector.

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
