About the Artwork

Small Carved Stone Unicorn sculpture Running Naive Baby Foal Unicorn for Indoors Inside Interior Display Statuette or sculpture or Ornament. by the Avant Garde Sculptressachel De Frietas, who writes from the heart….

“This is simply an enchanting carving.. intended to originally be a celtic style horse, but during the carving process, a strange and magical thing happened, a small horn started to appear.. and so a Baby Unicorn was born! hand carved in Caen stone (A finegrained french Limestone) suitable for indoors or outside in the garden. if left outside the stone will collect algae over time, and being quite a soft stone, details on the stone will soften and lose their sharpness. If you want to enjoy it in the garden, but slow down this natural weathering process, bring it inside during winter months when the weather is harshest.

Artist Comment

I personally am in love with this piece!! for me it seems to capture and hold a bit of precious magical purity and innocence... so rare in our human obsessed.. overly serious..practical functional world. The Unicorn in mythology and folklore being the carrier of such blessed qualities, but even if i say it myself..- (and i am my own worst critic usually) I think these qualities really come across strongly in this carving.. somewhere between a childs toy horse/rocking horse/and ancient mythological creature from another world.. galloping sweetly into the consiousness of the viewer... reminding one of a time, childhood perhaps where magical beings, creatures lived alongside us. I think whoever claims this piece for their own.. will not be dissapointed, but be very lucky indeed!!

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
