About the Artwork

Beautiful women with fawn sculpture by animal sculptor Tanya Russell, MRBS.

Material explained: Foundry Bronze is a metal alloy that is shaped using the traditional method of bronze casting, using the lost wax process – used by sculptors in ancient Greece. The bronze is melted at extremely high temperatures and then poured into a ceramic mould. The lost wax method of casting is a highly skilled, complex, time-consuming and labour intensive process. The skill required in the casting, combined with the innate value of the bronze (which is made from copper and tin), gives rise to the comparatively high price of a bronze sculpture.

This beautiful bronze sculpture is a casting of an original sculpture. It is hand cast by a British foundry or resin caster and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This is an original foundry or resin casting of the sculptor`s work that she has personally approved.

Artist Comment

The ‘Trust’ Woman and Fawn sculpture was the fourth sculpture in my animal-human relationships series. I feel our interactions with the animal world are so often to do with commercial use or resource accumulation and I wanted to depict a relationship that felt purer. This piece is meant to evoke a sense of innocence, respect and trust, which we fear we are very close to losing entirely in many parts of the world. But the more we can protect our wild places, our parks and woods, along with the creatures that live in them, the more we’ll be able to enjoy those things. If we can establish a healthier relationship with the animals we share our world with, perhaps we can grow in it alongside one another, and learn a different way forward together.

  • The ArtParkS Guarantee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the artists themselves, stating the material they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors, they have a guarantee of 10 years, subject to the effects of weathering, which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them regular cleaning and maintenance.

For instance, bronze, and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze, will acquire a green patina, usually rather sought after. All can attract moss, lichen, and a greenish pollen, especially under trees, which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing-up liquid.

Iron and steel will oxidise (rust), and this falls outside our guarantee.

Organic material like wood and bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited. You should discuss any guarantee directly with the artist, as this too falls outside our guarantee.
