Artist Comment

It is a constant search and a vision of three-dimensional structures that push stephane Deguilhen to the realization of contemporary works. Source of work, research on the preexisting form of roots: The Strain by definition is asymmetrical, the concept is to bring out a perfectly identifiable and expressive form while retaining the element`s own structure. The work done with the different tools, wood chisels and gouges must therefore be minimal to allow room for observation and reflection. From this arises a paradox and this is what constitutes the essential part of the problem: how to detect a symmetry on a structure at the base and by definition completely asymmetrical.

  • The ArtParkS Guarantee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the artists themselves, stating the material they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors, they have a guarantee of 10 years, subject to the effects of weathering, which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them regular cleaning and maintenance.

For instance, bronze, and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze, will acquire a green patina, usually rather sought after. All can attract moss, lichen, and a greenish pollen, especially under trees, which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing-up liquid.

Iron and steel will oxidise (rust), and this falls outside our guarantee.

Organic material like wood and bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited. You should discuss any guarantee directly with the artist, as this too falls outside our guarantee.
