About the Artwork

Lifelike Beautiful Sprinting Saluki statuette by Animal Sculptor Tanya Russell, MRBS. Dashing Saluki Dog Sculpture. Lifelike Realistic Bronze Limited Edition Saluki sculpture, for sale for the table windowsill or mantlepiece. Animal Sculptures and bespoke commissions for sale.

Material explained: Foundry Bronze is a metal alloy that is shaped using the traditional method of bronze casting, using the lost wax process – used by sculptors in ancient Greece. The bronze is melted at extremely high temperatures and then poured into a ceramic mould. The lost wax method of casting is a highly skilled, complex, time-consuming and labour intensive process. The skill required in the casting, combined with the innate value of the bronze (which is made from copper and tin), gives rise to the comparatively high price of a bronze sculpture.

The beautiful bronze sculpture is a casting of an original sculpture. It is hand cast by a British foundry or resin caster and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This is an original foundry or resin casting of the sculptor`s work that she has personally approved.

Artist Comment

A short time ago I met an architect who told me the beautiful history of the Middle Eastern salukis. He told me that the saluki bloodlines had been kept pure over thousands of years – through careful breeding and gifting them only to people worthy of them. I have sculpted many dogs, mostly bespoke pieces, and I find it thrilling to discover an animal or a dog that evokes emotion with its spirit and form. I was particularly inspired by the images and story of the Shajarat-al-Hayat (‘Tree of Life’), in Bahrain. Seeing salukis in such a stunning setting, and picturing these magnificent dogs running across the desert, evoked a vivid picture in my mind, which I sought to pour into this saluki statue. Having loved sculpting this piece, I’m now tempted to sculpt a saluki, or perhaps a pair running together, at life-size, or larger.

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
