About the Artwork

Abstract Stargazer And Canine Companion Looking Up Sculpture by Animal Sculptor Tanya Russell, MRBS. Bronze Man And Dog On A Ring Sculpture. As A Focal Point Outdoors In The Garden Or Yard Statue. Bespoke commissions for sale.

This editioned sculpture is made from foundry bronze metal, making it robust, weather-resistant, and suitable for outdoor display.

This sculpture is also available in bronze resin for £8,700 – casting a foundry bronze normally takes 16 weeks.

Material explained: Foundry Bronze is a metal alloy that is shaped using the traditional method of bronze casting, using the lost wax process – used by sculptors in ancient Greece. The bronze is melted at extremely high temperatures and then poured into a ceramic mould. The lost wax method of casting is a highly skilled, complex, time-consuming and labour intensive process. The skill required in the casting, combined with the innate value of the bronze (which is made from copper and tin), gives rise to the comparatively high price of a bronze sculpture.

The beautiful bronze sculpture is a casting of an original sculpture. It is hand cast by a British foundry or resin caster and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This is an original foundry or resin casting of the sculptor`s work that she has personally approved

Artist Comment

The ‘Large Stargazers’ Man and Dog on Ring sculpture was a public commission for a US developer to be placed outside their building ‘the M’. It is based on a smaller 80 centimetre tall stargazers sculpture, and was resized so a person could walk through the 6 foot ring. The stargazers ring was created to explore simple lines and elegant forms. It draws the viewer’s eye upwards to the figure and dog standing on the top of the ring to reflect their upward gazing pose. The sentiment is uncomplicated allowing the viewer to identify with the companionship and shared experience of the figure and their dog. The two stand upon a textured ring, which symbolises that shared experience, and also the world they share and stand upon, within its context of the starry night sky.

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
