About the Artwork

Bronze Nickel Plated Gleaming Symbolic creation, Abstract Modern Contemporary Allegoric sculpture for sale By Ebitenyefa Baralaye whon Writes “The Prophet Jonah was commanded by God to go to the town of Nineveh to warn its people of punishment for their sin. Refusing this call, Jonah instead flees aboard a ship sailing to Tarshish. A wrathful storm ensues on the sea and Jonah, exposed as being the likely source of God?s disfavor, submits himself to be thrown overboard to spare the lives of the other sailors from shipwreck. Thrown overboard he is saved from drowning by being swallowed by a huge fish and remains in the animals belly alive for three days and three nights. Within the fish Jonah penitently cries out to God and is then vomited up, yielded to obeying God?s call to travel to Nineveh. At Jonah?s warning the Ninevites do repent to God and are spared from destruction. By this, however, Jonah is displeased, unable to reconcile God?s just judgment against the people with his ultimate merciful choice of grace at their repentance”.

Dedication: Jonah 2:2-6

Artist Comment

In this form the elegantly undulating smooth sections of surface, reminiscent of a calm sea, clash when encircled with churned and rippled planes likened to stormy waves. The fin-like protrusions on the piece and subtle baleen striations leading up to its crest suggest the fish that is sent to save Jonah?s life. The form?s body is twisted, at varying degrees appearing to be turning away or settling back, evoking Jonah?s hesitation to obey and ultimate inability to understand God?s will.

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
