About the Artwork

Symbolic Confused Man statue, by Marc Bodie, the Powerfully Thought Provoking Sculptor, who writes….
“This sculpture of a sitting male figure seemingly resting, serenely head bowed in a contemplative fashion. But look again, and closer, (for this demands more than a mere cursory glance). This figure is so tightly self contained full of pent up power like a compressed spring; all the limbs are wrapped around the figure under tension, one arm pulled hard behind and up the back. but with the torsion that is here, one would expect a clenched fist, but what was a fist, is seen unfurling, this is to me is the clue to the whole piece, it is all about the slow controlled release of a suppressed power unfurling to a waiting world. The detail is great in this piece and I love this copper circle that rises and encapsulates the figure which emphasises the contained strength in this work as if one day it will burst through. This sculpture will look gorgeous on any shelf in a well loved home adding a little bit of fascination.

Artist Comment

This sculpture is one of three works that are all inspired by the poetical works of my favourite poet, the welsh poet Dylan Thomas. Dylan Thomas Series. This sculpture is inspired by the poem `The Force That Through The Green Fuse Drives The Flower` from which it gets its name. This is all about the contained power in a flower bud, say a rose bud against all the weather it will slowly twist and unfurl revealing all it`s divine beauty. The copper ring is to symbolise the bud`s casing; the containing protector to break forth from when ready. All about rebirth, new life and hope.

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
