About the Artwork

Miniature little naked girl’s torso arousing and awakening bronze limited edition statuette for sale For indoors decoration by the realistic sculptor Edward Fleming who writes….

“This is the third sculpture in a series of eight pieces, four of which Fleming has carved in marble and four which are currently in maquette form and cast in bronze. In the first sculpture the subject is in very deep sleep, completely unconscious, in a dream state.

In this sculpture, the figure is awakening, flexing and stretching like a big cat. Energy is rising and the apparent transition from profound sleep and dreaming to breaking the surface of unconsciousness is in motion. But the question is: is this awakened consciousness or another dream? Could this be lucid dreaming or is it living a dream?

The “Dream” series is an intimate consideration of the shift in energy from deep sleep to gradual awakening and arousal. It is talking about the differences as well as the similarities between dreaming and wakefulness and the balance between the realities of thought and action. This work is also about the immense energy of passion.

The eight pieces in this series are each individual sculptures but they also work together as one composition. As a group, they become a study in motion, like stop-action photography. When all the pieces are aligned in series, the torso appears to move. When one not only scans from one direction to another, but also walks around the group, while scanning and changing the elevation of view, the perceived movement of the torsos becomes far more complex.

The focus of this series is the body`s center, the chalice, the source of physical power and sexuality. This is why there is no face to detract attention from this nexus.

  • The ArtParkS Guarantee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the artists themselves, stating the material they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors, they have a guarantee of 10 years, subject to the effects of weathering, which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them regular cleaning and maintenance.

For instance, bronze, and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze, will acquire a green patina, usually rather sought after. All can attract moss, lichen, and a greenish pollen, especially under trees, which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing-up liquid.

Iron and steel will oxidise (rust), and this falls outside our guarantee.

Organic material like wood and bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited. You should discuss any guarantee directly with the artist, as this too falls outside our guarantee.
