About the Artwork

Little Hunting Chameleon Reptile sculpture. Bronze Life Size Chameleon on Bamboo statue. For Sale for Indoor Display by the Observant Wild Life Sculptor François Viljoen.

“Chameleon” means “earth lion” and is derived from the Greek words chamai (on the ground, on the earth) and leon (lion). It is know for its ability to change colours, and fit into the surroundings, and also for camouflage. On a more abstract level it can relate to the human trait to adopt or change in order to fit in. According to Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper “A Theory of Human Motivation” rated “love/belonging” as 3rd important human need. And in Bronze Chameleon on Gourd sculpture.

Prowling Chameleon statue for Sale for Indoors Inside Interior Decoration by the International Philosophical Sculptor François Viljoen. He writes…….
“In order to “fit in”, we change ourselves (our looks?), to fit into a group or to be more like another person. This is at times, even done unknowingly. The modern fashion trends is a example of this. Even the punk movement, who, seemingly rebelled against the fashion industry, but created their own “uniform”/dress code, but even this was a specific dress code by which they were accepted as one of the group.
The sphere shaped, bronze vessel/container features a Chameleon moving slowly through the bamboo branches”.

  • The ArtParkS Guarantee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the artists themselves, stating the material they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors, they have a guarantee of 10 years, subject to the effects of weathering, which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them regular cleaning and maintenance.

For instance, bronze, and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze, will acquire a green patina, usually rather sought after. All can attract moss, lichen, and a greenish pollen, especially under trees, which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing-up liquid.

Iron and steel will oxidise (rust), and this falls outside our guarantee.

Organic material like wood and bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited. You should discuss any guarantee directly with the artist, as this too falls outside our guarantee.

  • How Does ArtParkS Ensure Your Protection?

From the moment you place an order and pay ArtParkS, you are protected because half of the payment is immediately used to pay the artist’s deposit, while the other half is retained until the sculpture is delivered safely.
