About the Artwork

Large Abstract Of The Historical Acropolis Building Sculpture.Wall Mounted For A Focal Point Display Indoors. The appeal of Greece is somehow spiritual, the spartan geography, the sensation that given such clear light and such blue water we should cast away our worldly belongings and abandon ourselves naked to the elements. The quality of this light is such that it drove the inhabitants to produce artworks which actually use light as a medium, sculptural relief.

The Acropolis is the symbol of the greatest aesthetic achievement of the people of this landscape. In an extraordinary leap of creative sophistication an artefact of iconic proportions was produced, the residue of which continues to fire the imagination today. Ranking up-there with the superstar-symbols of the collective subconscious, It’s allure and influence cease to wane after two and a half thousand years.
So mystified by the past are we in this place and yet it is our burgeoning future that will define whether or not this symbol of human ideals will cease to endure

Artist Comment

As the economic necessity to perform the many basic functions of living with the aid of computers becomes more apparent, so the way that we interpret the world around us is obliged to conform to a common language. The application of systematic thinking is the highway that leads to the future, but the economical necessity of effective information-storage is dictating a series of progressively narrowing portals through which we receive the world. In hiatus three-dimensional space as defined by light relates to the inexorable slide of the way we see ourselves into the realm of the mathematical potential of machines. The construction of form within the numerical sphere is restricted to the shortest path between two points and thus a curve, the basic building block of form in nature, becomes a series of straight lines.

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
