About the Artwork

Nude girl bronze indoor bronze limited edition sculpture, by Deon Duncan Whose reputation for utter excellence is further boosted by this beautiful masterpiece for sale for outdoors as well….

“After Botticelli is a cast bronze sculpture based on the 1400`s painting “The Birth of Venus” by Sandro Botticelli. “Venus had two aspects: she was an earthly goddess who aroused humans to physical love or she was a heavenly goddess who inspired intellectual love in them. Plato further argued that contemplation of physical beauty allowed the mind to better understand spiritual beauty.”
And who are we to argue… he certainly has a point here

Artist Comment

I pursue the idea of beauty every day in my studio but I found it very interesting to sculpt an image where the artist was attempting the same thing 500 years ago. Botticelli was never fully committed to naturalism but this sculpture based on the painting is. At least mostly. After Botticelli is a more stylized work that any of my other work, but it is one of my favorites as I learned to think about beauty on many levels.

  • The ArtParkS Guarantee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the artists themselves, stating the material they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors, they have a guarantee of 10 years, subject to the effects of weathering, which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them regular cleaning and maintenance.

For instance, bronze, and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze, will acquire a green patina, usually rather sought after. All can attract moss, lichen, and a greenish pollen, especially under trees, which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing-up liquid.

Iron and steel will oxidise (rust), and this falls outside our guarantee.

Organic material like wood and bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited. You should discuss any guarantee directly with the artist, as this too falls outside our guarantee.

  • How Does ArtParkS Ensure Your Protection?

From the moment you place an order and pay ArtParkS, you are protected because half of the payment is immediately used to pay the artist’s deposit, while the other half is retained until the sculpture is delivered safely.

Insurance in transit should be arranged with the artist prior to ordering.

  • Why Choose ArtParkS for Your Purchase?

When you choose a work of art from ArtParkS, you can be confident that it has been selected by ArtParkS’s curators and will be dispatched directly from the artist’s studio or foundry only after passing their quality control process.

Payment can be made by Direct Debit, cheque, credit or debit card, or PayPal, though we try to avoid the latter as we have to pass on their 5% fee to you.
