Jonathan Mallett is an artist blacksmith based in Norfolk close to Norwich. Inspired by nature, he works primarily in iron and bronze. John is fascinated by the contrast between the perception of delicacy and fragility of life forms and threatened environments compared to the sense of permanence and solidity of the materials he uses, which are also of the earth. From botanical studies to nature impressions, he continuously pushes the limits of what is possible in the materials he works with and experiments to find a harmony between modern technologies, such as computer design and 3D printing, and the time honoured arts of traditional renaissance bronze casting and blacksmithing.
