Jiri Netik, was formerly a professional musician.
Since 1988 he has been a freelance sculptor. He works mainly with wood, sometime combined with metal, glass (or found objects).

His creations reflect respect to the world and human ideal likewise it can be seen at medieval and baroque artists` work.

The finest details (expressions of the faces, fabrics) give evidence of perfectly mastered craft. He likes to aim at life of a human being in context of nature, history of a mankind and universe. Especially he inspects a man with his pains, searching for his identity, roots and his place on Earth.

Jiri Netik occasionally works as a teacher and artterapeut. He works and exhibits together with his wife Martina (also carver and sculptor). They organize carving courses for everybody (from age of 18) from all the world in a beautiful renaissance town in Slavonice.

Jiri Netik was born 9. 8. 1953 in Brno /Czech republic/

studies and work: School of Chemistry, professional musician /20 years/, courses of drawings and workshops at a renowned restorer of medieval carvings in Brno,

since 1988 a free-lance sculptor, carver and restorer since 1998
