Mediums Used

A passion for wild places and creatures which inhabit them has driven David`s creativity and inspiration for the past forty years. Drawing animals `en plein air` in Kenya, Madagascar, India and New Zealand has informed his wildlife image making and bronze sculpture.
Brought up in the North East of England, David trained in animal anatomy before becoming a freelance artist in 1975. Television appearances and conservation work with Prof. David Bellamy moulded his early career.
For four years he held the post of Senior Lecturer in Environmental Illustration at the University of Sunderland, before returning to his freelance career to pursue his passion for sculpture.
In 2018, he studied at Barcelona Academy of Arts under Polish figurative master sculptor Grzegorz Gwiazda. His most recent work explores the human condition with humour and pathos in a range of bronze and resin editioned head sculptures.
David works from his studio in Cumbria where he lives with his artist wife Sarah and their two children, dog Bonzo and cat Tinker.

Dave Cemmick trained in animal anatomy before becoming a wildlife sculptor and painter. Influenced by the field observation art of Dr Eric Ennion he spend twenty years studying wildlife across the globe. His expeditions to New Zealand to study the Kakapo Parrot, Madagascar to record ethno medicinal plants and Jamaica’s coral reefs to paint fish under water have all helped inform his artwork and love of the natural world.
His wildlife and figurative bronze and resin sculptures have a world collector base.
He works from his studio in the Cumbrian Lake District where he lives with his artist wife Sarah.
