Mediums Used

Christine Close is a figurative artist who specialises in the animal and human form. With a university background in zoology and animal behaviour she spends many hours observing and photographing animals in order to capture that special pose or moment in time. Her work is initially modelled in clay and then cast in foundry bronze, resins and recycled glass. All sculptures are in limited editions.
Recently she has been in high demand for public art sculpture.
Christine is currently based in France.
“I have been greatly influenced by the animaliers of the early 20th century such as Bugatti and Francois Pompon. I strive to capture the essence of the animal to portray it`s character in the chosen pose. I love to experiment with new materials and sculpt female torsos using recycled car windscreens thus transforming something uniquely hard and masculine into a soft and sensuous form.”
