Artist Comment

I can sculpt a portrait busts of you in your likeness! Self-portrait sculptures are extremely difficult to make. Do an Internet check and you will see very few self-portrait sculptures that actually look exactly like the creator. Remember, a self-portrait sculpture is three-dimensional and the mirror the artist is looking into is two-dimensional as are any photographs, so how does the artist know how far back or how deep to sculpt various parts of his face? Also, keep in mind that when you look in a mirror the right side of your face is on the right side of the mirror, but because the head is turned around toward the artist, that eye he sees on the right side of the mirror is on the left side of the sculpture the artist is creating. Therefore, as he sculpts, everything must be flipped over in the artist`s mind. This is extremely difficult to accomplish and few people can do it. Also, keep in mind that to view difficult angles such as the side of your head or under the nose, or under the chin, or inside your ear, or behind the ear, requires the artist hold two mirrors with one reflecting off the other. There are other technical difficulties, but I`m sure you get the point. The main reason I made this sculpture is to demonstrate the accuracy with which I can sculpt a portrait. It is much less difficult to sculpt a portrait of someone else then of yourself. I can create a custom life size portrait sculpture of you, and in your likeness.

  • The ArtParkS Guarentee

All the sculptures on the website are described by the Artists themselves stating the materiel they are made from and their dimensions. If they are stated to be suitable for outdoors they have a guarentee of 10 years subject to the effects of weathering which will alter their colour and finish over the years unless you give them  regular cleaning and maintenance. For instance Bronze and to a lesser extent bronze resin/cold cast bronze will aquire a green patina, usually rather sought after and all could attract moss  lichen and a greeny pollen especially under trees which should be removed regularly with warm water and washing up liquid.
Iron and steel will oxidise(rust ) and this falls outside our guarentee.
Organic materiel like wood, bark willow is variable and depends to a great extent on where it is sited and you should discuss any guarentee direct with the Artist as this too falls outside our Guarentee.
