Biography

Stan Jankowski was born 1953 in Solihull and always had a passion for art. He started his working life as an apprentice making frames for racing motorcycles.

The family lived in the Midlands and then when his daughter left for university, he and his wife moved to Wales and Jankowski Weathervanes was born.

Working mainly in metals, Stan makes bespoke pieces for individuals, businesses and public buildings. Stan also enjoys working with schools and community art projects.
Using traditional free form and repoussé techniques, he takes delight in the form taking shape out of what was once a flat piece of metal.

Working directly with the client brings pleasure to both parties - listening to their ideas and making something that is unique for them can sometimes be challenging but never dull. Be it a fire breathing dragon, a weathervane or a house number, giving joy and pleasure to those who own them is the ultimate object.

Stan now has his work on three continents and has displayed at The Welsh Assembly, The Royal Welsh Show; his work has also appeared on TV and cinema.

Living in Powys, Wales, there is an abundance of inspiration in the landscape, the local legends and wildlife, as evidenced by the large number of artists in the area!
