Biography

Simon Gudgeon spends countless hours researching and carefully studying each and every aspect of the animal, or bird, he is about to recreate. Hundreds of photographs are taken and the creatures themselves are minutely observed. Although he will visit Zoos, parks and bird gardens, he much prefers to study his subjects in their natural surroundings. His latest research trip has taken him on a tour of New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, a fantastic journey which has provided him with inspiration for countless new sculptures as well as allowing the development of exciting new ideas following more contemporary themes.
