Mediums Used
Kathy was born in London and her interest in the dynamics of movement in dance are the inspiration for her tactile and sensuous sculptures eclipsing all her previous passions. She uses the enigmatic body of a dancer as it becomes simplified when caught in a moment of time, expressing the joy in the spirit, and beauty of the human figure. Kathy uses strong lines of classical purity mixed with the dynanism and energy of a more contemporary reality, overcoming the struggle for spirituality in an over materialistic world.
Kathy has exhibited nationally and won many awards for her work.
My subject matter is celebrating the splendid anatomy of the human body which is so innocent, and to create tactile and sensuous sculptures. Ths brings complete peace to my soul.
I create sculptures capturing the fleeting magic of a dancer simplified when caught in a moment of time, and using strong lines of classical purity mixed with the dynanism and energy of a more contemporary reality to awaken spirituality in an over materialistic world.
When working in clay, I use the touch my hands creating figures who I want to come alive and dance across the table. When working in plaster, simple forms are created to express movement, and the details of the face are eliminated to keep the sculpture timeless. My goal is to inspire those who see my work to discover the beauty in the people that surround them.
