Mediums Used

Julia Wager has lived all her life concerned with animals and art. She was born and brought up in the New Forrest and went on to study Art at Salisbury College of Art followed by Cheltenham School of Art. There she developed her passion for the truthful depiction of animals with such stunning results.

My sculpture is concerned with the realistic representation of animals which are accurate to scale. They are sculpted using clay and other modelling mediums. The finished pieces are cast in bronze using the lost wax process. A range of treatments using alkaline and acidic salts are used on the surface of the finished bronze to produce the patinas that are as specific and individual as the sculpture itself.
