Mediums Used

Phonolite Stone,

Jonathan Mencarelli`s source of inspiration is Polynesian mythology and nature. He specializes in sculpture in the
round and direct carving, restoring life to seemingly inanimate matter. His artwork relies memory
which, forever changing, deforms and fragments objects in time, thus offering the spectator freedom
in interpretation.

He live on MOOREA island, the TAHITI sister island to 10 years ago, where he sculpting stone every day.

Credentials

Biography

After studying ART at school (Lycée Paul Gauguin in Papeete) and Fine Art School in Montpellier (France), he is obliged to leave his homeland in order to carry out his artistic research, he leaves Polynesia behind him even though it never leaves him.
