Mediums Used

Jane McAdam Freud an acclaimed British sculptor, winner of the European Trebbia Awards for achievement in the arts 2014, is represented in the major public collections at home and abroad. She studied at Royal College of Art, London under the supervision of John Stezeker and Edwardo Paolozzi.

She exhibits in galleries and museums in the UK, Europe, Taipei, the USA and Russia and focuses on the meeting of Art and Psychoanalysis. Venues include the Freud Museum of Dreams in St. Petersburg, Russia and the Austrian General Consulate Gallery in Krakow, Palazzo Tagliaferrro, Andora, Italy, Gazelli Art House, Mayfair and Baku and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Art, Moscow.

Examples of Jane’s works can be seen on permanent display at the Victoria and Albert Museum (Gilbert Bayes Sculpture Gallery), or by appointment at the British Museum or by appointment.

We are lucky to get these pieces since she normally only does one man shows.

I work at the edges where art and psychoanalysis meet.
examining conflicting or contrasting sides of subjects and objects both formally and philosophically.
I play with ideas and language with an interdisciplinary approach.

Biography

Jane McAdam Freud the daughter of Lucian Freud and Katherine McAdam. Her first sculpture was acquired by the British Museum in 1981, while she was still an art student doing her first degree at Central School of Arts, London. She has work in the permanent collections of important national and international museums and is a visiting lecturer at the University of the Arts, London.
Jane lives in NW London.

Influences

My early influences are my former tutors Stezaker and Paolozzi
Ongoing influences range from Baldessari to Bourgeois
Conceptually I am influenced by Freudian theory.
