Born and raised in a farming community in the English Lake District, I now reside in Scottsdale, Arizona, a major center of the Arabian horse world. Beginning my sculpting career later in life than most artists, my passion in life is to create the finest bronze sculptures around the world.
I worked for Border Fine Arts, an international figurine company as a painter, then returned to Art College to pursue a career in textile design. Due to circumstances beyond my control I was unable to further my chosen path, but I was given the opportunity to work in the origination studio of the figurine company I initially started sculpting. I textured clays that had been produced by Master Sculptors. I then moved on to undertake my own work for the company, which are highlighted on my resume. Although in recent times I have concentrated on Arabian horse artistic pieces, I have been successful in creating art in various subject matters. Please review the following examples, which outline my many strengths and accomplishments:
Created a life-size female form bronze sculpture titled “Solitaire” that was commissioned by private Swiss collectors for a newly landscaped garden.
Love and journey into sculpting Arabian horses brought me to the U.S.A.
First sculpture I cast into bronze, “Out of the Desert”, was a 28 inch/71 cm pyramid with 4 triangular inset sides with high relief depictions of the history of the Arabian horse. It was on display at Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. One of these limited edition sculptures sold in Albuquerque in 2000, and was resold in 2007 to Mystica Arabians in Australia for a record price.
Exhibiting bronzes at the Dubai Arabian Horse Show in 2012 opened many doors and provided a new insight into the true Arabian horse and its culture. Since then, most of my bronzes have been acquired for Middle Eastern collectors, notably His Majesty, Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman.
During my career I have sold artwork into 37 countries and my work can be found in many eminent private collections, including two equine and a canine sculpture that are in the personal collection of HRH Queen Elizabeth II. I also enjoy creating trophies for many different organizations, my favorite being the Egyptian Event Trophy 1997 for the Pyramid Society, Lexington, Kentucky. When I started producing my sculptures, I worked in cold cast porcelain, personally hand painting each piece. I now enjoy working in bronze, preferring the strength of the metal and the challenge of bringing it to life.
