Helen has been making sculpture for over twenty years and still finds the process a delight. With every piece she makes, she finds the working process both confortingly familiar and refreshingly surpirsing.
The human figure is prbably her primary subject the actual figure and the figure as depicted by other artists in any medium and at any phase in history.
Most of Helens work is cast in limited editions either in resin or bronze. With the help of a full time technician, she makes her own moulds and does her own resin casting. She models the originals in plaster, wax, clay and mixed media. she finds the material that she works with can be as stimulating to her as the subject matter. She lives by the sea and collects driftwood, discarded plastic debris and other beach-found stuff whic introduce ever new and unexpected vocalbulary with which to work.
Helen lives in Wales with her husband sculptor Terry Ryall.
