Heather Burnley, whose skill in the human form and portraiture pervades all her work in bronze, terracotta and bronze resin, learnt her artistry when she studied extensively at the Bath Academy, the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Florence and Park Walk, Chelsea. A sculptural group of hers in bronze, relating to a former Abbot of Glastonbury Abbey, can be seen in the courtyard of the Abbey Museum.

Heather is a member of the Society of Women Artists and the Chelsea Art Society.
Publications
Heather studied at Bath Academy of Art, where she specialised in painting and fabric-printing. She obtained a Certificate in Education in Art and Drama.
She subsequently taught Art and Craft for 6 years and afterwards she went to Florence in Italy and studied for a year at the Accademia dele Belle Arti. Whilst in Florence, she was able to acquaint herself with the wealth of Italian art treasures to be found here and in other Italian cities.
After returning to the United Kingdom she embarked on an Open University course with a bias towards Renaissance Art, and Architecture. She joined the Free Painters and Sculptors with whom she has exhibited regularly.
In 1990, she started to study Sculpture at Park Walk, Chelsea and this became her preferred art form. She studied here for 7 years, until she moved to North Wales where she was able to have a larger studio. Easch year since 1992, she has also participated in week-long Summer Sculpture courses run by Sukey Erland in Pilton, Somerset. During this period, she became a member of the Society of Women Artists and have frequently exhibited sculpture with them at their annual exhibitions.
