Biography

Diana Whelan trained a a painter at Goldsmith`s and spent several years designing and art editing on magazines in New York and London. After the births of her children she took up pottery and established her own studio, selling domestic ware and teaching in Adult Education. She followed this by setting up a Pottery Department in Westminster School where she taught ceramics for eleven years.

Since 1985 Diana has worked entirely as a sculptor, becoming an Associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1992. Her style is mainly figurative and she enjoys working to commission for a particular site in a garden or public space.

Her work is in private collections throughout the country and in Holland, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland and USA. Public commissions include University of Keele, St. Thomas Hospital, Otto Schiff Housing Trust, Albourn Church West Sussex.

Diana has exhibited at the Royal Society of British Sculptors, Society of Portrait Sculptors, Royal Society of British Artists, Society of Women Artists, solo shows at Westminster School and Clarendon Gallery, London, a two sculptor show "In the Round" at the Orangery, Holland Park, London in 2003, and is a regular exhibitor with ArtParks International.
